Wake Forest School of Medicine (WFSM) is one of 177 accredited allopathic medical schools in the United States offering early exposure to clinical medicine and opportunities for research activity. The desire to teach excellence in clinical medicine, promote strong clinical and basic research, render exemplary patient care, and stress service to the community has continued as an integral part of Wake Forest Baptist Health through the tremendous growth that has occurred and is still occurring.With the quality of education you receive at Wake Forest you'll be trained to pursue either clinical medicine or research. Students are taught by 1,074 full-time faculty members in the basic and clinical sciences and 550 part-time teachers, most of whom are private practitioners of medicine or surgery. Students study the basic and clinical sciences in an integrated fashion throughout the four-year curriculum, which utilizes a variety of educational methods including small group, case-centered learning, among other things. The small class size of 120 students encourages free communication with classmates and faculty.
