More about Wakeboarding Hall of Fame

Wakeboarding has been around since the 1960's. Early pioneers in manufacturing were from Australia. Soon after the Aussies, Tony Finn brought the designs to America and founded Skurfer in America. Redline Design was also in process of making better boards in Texas. These early boards were very hard to get up on and a few years later Herb O'Brien saved a dead industry with the compression molded boards know as Hyperlite. Early tournaments in Colorado and Texas helped form the outline of the sport. Colorado was first to organize with the WSA founded by Howard Bass. WSA was World Skiboard Association which later was re-named WWA. Todd Weatherill and Stacy McElhinney were the first elected officers shoreside in Colordao. Soon afterward it was necessary to re-name to WWA due to a Kransco connection with Tony who had left to work on his own. See the many different accounts from readers and riders here at the Wakeboarding Hall of Fame. A board of directors will be appointed soon and elected leadership will come shortly afterwards. Thanks for visiting the Wakeboarding Hall of Fame.
