I sold my cabinet business a little over five years ago, and never thought I would ever work with cabinets again. Many challenges come with being a business owner. Probably the hardest challenge for me was selling the cabinets I made. Why you may ask? Well I did not believe that they were worth the extra money. Yes, they came in any color you could dream up. Yes, I could build a cabinet that was 17 5/16" wide if need be. But was that worth thousands more? You see, I am a minimalist. When I was selling someone a set of cabinets for five figures I could not help but think of how you could go down to the corner store and buy a set of RTA (Ready To Assemble) cabinets for quite a few thousands less. Once installed, they looked decent, and they held food, silverware, and plates. However, I could not get over the fact that they were junk! They all assembled with cam locks, or metal brackets that were inside the cabinet and got covered with a rediculous piece of plastic. I installed these cabinets a few times and knew they were destined for having no destiny! Then one day it happened. I came face to face with a match made in heaven, a cabinet factory that can build us cabinets that cost less than IKEA, Home Depot, and Lowes--yet are built better than I used to build mine (it hurts me to say this...but it is true). Finally something I can believe in. Now I can look a customer in the eyes and tell them the cold hard facts: Walcraft Cabinets are better and cheaper than the competitors and they are built to last! Let me tell you why.


Dovetail baby! Any woodworker knows that dovetail joinery is a superior way to connect to pieces of wood. Walcraft Cabinets use a sliding dovetail to assemble the cabinet box parts together AND to attach the face frame to the cabinet box! Combine that with some glue and you have a solid box. Next add some clear B1 or better grade pre-finished Birch plywood for the box and shelf construction. I made my cabinets with a C2. A B1 grade is a clear knot free grade with no fill marks, and a matching back. C2 has filled nots, mineral streaks, and other blemishes. As far as hardware, the solid wood dovetail drawers with 1/2" plywood bottoms sit on top of DTC soft-close slides. When I gave these guys a spin I realized they had the same motion as the Blum Bluemotion slides (the premiere German made soft close slides), and the doors have soft close hinges as well, that are smooth! The doors, face frames and moldings that make up Walcraft Cabinets are for the most part Birch, and are crafted with great care to detail. The finish is a water based environment friendly laquer that dries super smooth, and contributes to a healthy home and planet. Typical cabinet finishes outgass nasty fumes into your home and into our world!. A water based Laquer has very minimal effect on either. It gets better. Walcraft Cabinets are CARB (California Air Resource Board) Phase 2 compliant. This means your loved ones, and customers will not be breathing in a bunch of formaldehyde while their sleeping and cooking pancakes. This is good news!
