Walker Elementary School

Walker Elementary School was established in 1973. The school is in Samantha, Alabama which is located in the northern section of
Tuscaloosa near the Fayette County line. Walker's faculty and staff pride themselves in being a close-knit community school. Our students, parents, and stakeholders share in our vision for the students' future, are actively involved, and take ownership of student achievement and school upkeep. Walker has 61 faculty and staff members. We have 45 highly qualified teachers servicing students in grades K-5. Our student enrollment is approximately 670. We are a part of the Northside High School cluster in the Tuscaloosa County School System, which consists of Walker Elementary, Northside Middle, and Northside High School. All 3 of the schools' administrators meet regularly throughout the year to stay up to date on current events going on in the community of schools and to conduct instructional walk-throughs to identify strengths and weaknesses in the cluster for professional development purposes. The 2014-2015 school year will be Antonio Cooper's second year as Walker Elementary School's 4th principal in 41 years.
