WALL to WALL Workshop

Join us for a comprehensive introduction to the art and science of natural building. If you attend the whole series of 5 workshops, you will learn 10 different versatile construction techniques that can be used alone or in combination to make nearly any kind of structure in almost every environment.

Through the expert instruction of renowned builder and author Michael G. Smith, and natural builder and teacher Amanda Fischer you will gain hands on experience working with a number of materials and fundamental techniques. Each day will include about 6 hours of hands-on building and 3 hours of lectures and slide presentations covering building science and design methodology. The information will build on itself throughout the series, adding up to an advanced training appropriate for professional designers and builders as well as first-time owner-builders. You may also choose to attend just one or any number of workshops if you’re interested primarily in a specific technique.

We will be constructing a multi-purpose pole-barn studio, seamlessly blending all of these techniques into a single structure. Delicious organic meals will be prepared 3 times daily, and workshop participants are encouraged to camp on-site at the beautiful 5,000 acre Ridgewood Ranch, located in the heart of Mendocino County, California.
