Wapakoneta – The Fourteenth Annual Wapak Wing Fest, “Northwest Ohio’s Original Wing Competition,” will be held Saturday September 26, 2015 at American Legion Post 330.

This year’s event includes the P.T. Works Co-Ed Sand Volleyball Tournament which kicks off the day at 9:00 a.m. Pre-registration is suggested but not required. A $60 entry fee is required for a six-person volleyball team. Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams. Sports Talk with Koza of 93.1 The Fan will broadcast live at 10:00 a.m. The American Legion Riders are also sponsoring a Poker Run, with registration at 11 AM, first bike out at Noon and last bike in at 4 PM.

The vendor fee for the chicken wing competition is $150 per contestant. A five-person panel will judge contestants in the following categories: appearance, flavor, tenderness and uniqueness. First prize will be $600, Second Prize $400 and the People’s Choice award winner will receive $200. Each winner will also receive plaques commemorating their Wapak Wing Fest performance. Vendors will be open for food service at Noon and the Winners will be announced at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Other featured events include a live music performance at 8:00 p.m. The Band for 2015 is Cincinnati's Friday Night Rock Show, featuring Jim Miller Jr. (of Wing Fest favs Dangerous Jim & the Slims).

Live music will be playing throughout the course of the day and College Football will be available all day on big screen TVs.

All proceeds from this event benefit the Lima Veterans Administration Health Clininc. In our first thirteen years the Wapak Wing Fest has raised over $95,000 for our area veterans’ healthcare needs.

Admission to this event is free. The American Legion is located at 1108 E. Benton St.
