More about Warrior Assembly of God

Our History

The first revival that began a move forward in Pentecost happened in a grove service on the bank of Cane Creek at the turn of the century. It lasted several weeks. Brother Shirley was the Minister. Cottage prayer meetings became very popular in those days. Brother H.G. Rogers came to Warrior from Jackson Tennessee and organized this group and became their Pastor. They used the old school house for their worship services between 1907-1909. The church deed was recorded January 21, 1909. This group was called “Holiness Fighters.”

Brother M.M. Pinson came to Warrior from California from Azusa Street where the Holy Spirit was first poured out. He had been filled with the Spirit himself and that was his message. The news spread like wildfire. Many miracles and healings took place and many people came from many walks of life and from miles around in buggies and wagons. They camped out in a tent where the church stands today. They hung curtains for privacy and actually cooked their meals at the tent.

The first Trustees of the church were D.S. Eades, J.B. Allbritton, and W.H. Miles. There were 142 names of those attending Sunday School in 1909. Some of those still attending the church today are the Jetts, Kemps, and Sawyers.

This account is based on an article written by Forrest Roberts and Lucy Rice, descendants of the Allbrittons.

As the current Pastor of Warrior Assembly of God, having served in this position for the last twenty years, I would like to add an addendum to the above account. In the 1990s, our church experienced an incredible outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This move of God began around 1990 and continued for ten years! During this time many people were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. There were times that we would meet every night of the week with many of the meetings lasting into the early hours of the morning. Lives were being dramatically changed. It was also during this time that our Assembly received a tremendous gift of intercession. There were, as the scripture says, “groans that could not be uttered.” ( Romans 8:26) This new dimension of intercession has taken us into spiritual places that we did not know existed and serves as the link to our future ministry.
Our church today is being drawn to partner with God in His desire to make "Jerusalem a praise in all the earth." ( Isaiah 62:6-7) This partnership involves intercession for the protection and salvation of Israel, and it also involves giving financially in order to minister to the Jews. We believe that by praying and giving to what is on God’s heart we are placing ourselves in the very center of God’s will. The scriptures make it clear that God will restore the entire earth from the little dusty town of Jerusalem. When the Jews invite Jesus back to the city of Jerusalem, Satan will be bound for one thousand years and the Millennial reign of Christ will begin. We believe that time is upon us. Therefore, our church has made God’s passion for Jerusalem our passion as well. In this way, we are a part of "preparing the way for the Lord’s return."

Along with the prayer ministry of intercession, and our passion for Israel and Jerusalem, our church also has the mantle of the prophetic. Over the last twenty years our Assembly has grown in how to hear “what the Spirit is saying to the church.” This is, we believe, crucial in today’s world. The prophetic word of God to the church is essential in preparing the Body of Christ for what is coming in the future. And it is also essential in preparing the Church to prepare the way of the Lord. It is our heart, through intercession, and through the prophetic to “raise up tomorrow’s church today.” We desire that our ceiling will be their floor--that they will go higher and further than we could ever even imagine!!!
Therefore, as Warrior Assembly of God celebrates 100 years of Pentecostal ministry, it is our sincere conviction that God has saved the best wine for the last! Our prayer is not that the Spirit would just be poured out on our Assembly, but that the Manifest Presence of God would fill our town, our area and our region! Would you join us in believing God for this kind of extravagant outpouring of the Spirit? May our churches, town, area and region become a portal where the glory of God sits down. As this happens THE LAMB OF GOD will receive the reward of His suffering: the salvation of those who are lost.

The greatest and best history is yet to be written, and God has brought us to the Kingdom for such a time as this.

Let’s make history for the glory of God,

Brother Jim
