A handful of craftsmen in Dover, Ohio skillfully craft each knife, thousands around the country know what it is like to become a part of an amazing family legacy and tradition. Beginning with his first kitchen knife in 1902, Ernest “Mooney” Warther had no idea what the next 115 years would bring. Making knives became a necessity for Mooney. In the early stages of his famed carving career, Mooney could not find a store-bought knife to hold its edge while carving dense materials. So, at the age of 17, with knowledge from working in a local steel mill, he began forging his own carving knives, with great success. That led to his mother asking him to make a kitchen knife of similar quality, which he presented to her on Mother’s Day in 1902. Today, Warther Knives reflect the quality of that very first knife made. Using, high-quality steel, along with the sturdiness of handles our knives are designed and handcrafted with a unique combination of durability and comfort in mind.
