This new interim park space has replaced the impervious surfaces with woodland stands, meadows of native grasses and wildflowers, and made improvements to the existing trail; and addressed localized stormwater run-off and water quality. Other key components include enhanced views out to the pier and river; installation of interpretive signage to provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the ecological context and function of the river and its upland edges, acknowledging the historic legacy of the pier, and artistic interpretation through design elements and public art. Ideally, this new space will be incorporated into future the development of this area.
