Washington County JAM is an after-school program for students in grades 4-8 throughout the county, and runs on Tuesday afternoons at the 4-H Center on Hillman Highway in Abingdon, from 4 – 6 p.m. Our partners include Capo's Music Store and Crooked Road.

Classes are currently being offered in clawhammer banjo, fiddle, guitar and lap dulcimer. Enrichment sessions focusing on Appalachian cultural infusion are also offered as part of the program. Examples of enrichment lessons from this semester include quilting, contra-dancing, seed-saving, basket weaving, story telling, flat-footing and more! The cost of instruction is $10 per session. Full and half scholarships are available, and instruments are available for loan for the duration of the program at no additional cost.
