Waterville Creates!, one of Maine’s leading arts and cultural organizations with a mission to promote Waterville a vibrant destination in central Maine, is delighted to announce the creation of Waterville Rocks! -- a new summer concert series taking place in downtown Waterville’s Castonguay Square beginning this July. This series consists of four free and family-friendly outdoor music concerts features local, regional and youth musical acts and is being hosted by the Waterville Opera House and sponsored by local businesses, organizations and patrons of the arts.

The series is designed to provide free cultural programming for community members and offers a new way to animate and enliven downtown Waterville. The series of four outdoor concerts will occur on Thursday evenings from 5:00 to 9:00 PM in Castonguay Square.

The first Waterville Rocks! concert featuring local and regional acts is scheduled for Thursday, July 28 and includes performances by Chris Ross & the North, Emilia Dahlin, the Jason Spooner Band, Sweet & Savory and Yard Sail. The three remaining concert dates have been set for August 11, August 25 and September 22 – a website has been established to help promote this free concert series at www.waterville.rocks

Waterville Rocks! is hosted by the Waterville Opera House and made possible by the generosity of the following businesses, organizations and arts patron sponsors: Colby College, GHM Insurance, Collaborative Consulting, Waterville Creates!, Inland Hospital, Kennebec Savings Bank, Thomas College, Days Jewelers, Central Maine Disposal and John and Jackie Dalton. The concert series is also made possible by the dedication of the following partners: Alfond Youth Center, the City of Waterville, Common Street Arts, the Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM), the Maine Film Center, the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, the Waterville Historical Society, Waterville Main Street and the Waterville Public Library.

In the event of rain, all Waterville Rocks! concerts will be performed inside the Waterville Opera House.
