Community Education became a part of Weatherford ISD in 1971. It was the first program of it's kind in Texas. It began with a summer camp program, then added the after school program at one campus, and through the years added life-long learning opportunities for those in the community. In the past 40 years the Community Ed Department has grown to what it is today providing after school care to all seven elementary campuses and an extraordinary Summer Camp through its Kids Unite Program; offers GED and ESL classes through the Adult Ed program, and a wide array of learning opportunities for children and adults through the ComEd program.
