Wellsboro Growers Market

The Wellsboro Growers Market began over 30 years ago and has experienced a number of different formats and locations. In 2011 a group of people in the First Presbyterian Church began a study of two books: 50 Ways to Save the Earth, and Animal, Vegetable, Mineral (by Barbara Kingsolver.) As a result of this study, the group was challenged to put their thoughts/faith into action and presented a proposal to the church leadership. The response was enthusiastic: a practical way to celebrate God's good earth and to provide healthy local food for the community. The steering committee of the group approached some vendors of what was then called the Wellsboro Famers Market to explore possibilities. The vendors welcomed the new structure and the beautiful location of the front lawn of First Pres. The WGM continues to grow under the sponsorship and blessing of the church.
