West Calaveras History

The towns of Burson, Wallace, Valley Springs, Campo Seco, Milton, Paloma, and Jenny Lind have a long and colorful history that needs to be preserved, cherished and made available to its citizens as well as to the citizens of the rest of Calaveras County, the State of California and elsewhere. The Society for the Preservation of West Calaveras History (SPWCH) was formed in 2006 and is empowered to acquire items of historical interest (from photographs and memorabilia to ephemera and buildings), to preserve and restore such items, to disseminate knowledge of the area’s history to the general public and to function as a resource for students, historians, governmental agencies and others.
