West Philadelphia Soccer Academy (WPSA) is the only soccer club in West Philadelphia. We are a nonprofit organization committed to creating safe, accessible, and affordable soccer programs that deliver health and social outcomes. We provide player development through coaching, mentoring, and family engagement events. Our program is self-supporting and consists, primarily, out of volunteers.
We run school year soccer programs and soccer camps. Our U8 and U13 teams compete locally in the city-wide championship league, both indoor and outdoor. As of January 2017, WPSA has partnered with the Philadelphia Unity Cup to extend our program in Southwest Philadelphia. WPSA is also affiliated with the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) and Philadelphia Park & Recreation.
The soccer program was established in 1994 by Sylvester Corbie, the head coach. He has been an active participant ever since and is an avid advocate for the sport. Our mission is to help keep kids off the street by providing affordable soccer programs. Our goal is to educate kids on critical life skills, promote sportsmanship, and advance soccer in our neighboring communities.
