West Port High School - Guitar Program

It is the mission of the MCCA Instrumental Program to develop a student's musical talents to the highest degree through a rigorous performance level. Through exposure to the West Port Instrumental program students learn about character development, tone production, movement, improvisation skills, as well as sight-reading music. Instrumental students are required to participate in after-school practices and performances as a means of applying the skills taught in class.
Students completing the program with an "A" average will be prepared to audition for post-secondary music schools to further their musical careers, as well as to enjoy music as a life-long avocation.

If our students understand and follow the Instumental Motto and Creed then they will be very successful in everything that they do in life and will represent our band to the highest standard that we aim to achieve.

The Marion County Center for the Arts Instrumental program is proud of its facilities, including a Performing Arts Center, band room and seven quality practice rooms, as well as the use of outstanding equipment. Serious instrumental students will have an opportunity to participate in Jazz, Concert, Symphonic, and Honors Bands and compete in district and state festivals. they will study a wide range of instrumental styles, including classical, contemporary, swing, rock, funk, latin, and march-style music.

Student have numerous opportunities to perform in both small and large groups on and off campus. Applied Music Theory is also offered at the junior and senior grade levels
