The Forest Preserve District of Will County's Whalon Lake provides parking areas for cars and boat trailers, latrines, water fountains, two shelters, and access to an off-leash dog park (permit required), a 2.36-mile segment of the paved DuPage River Trail (ideal for bicycling, hiking/running, in-line skating, and, in the winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing), and the 80-acre Whalon Lake for fishing, boating, and canoeing/kayaking. Open 6 a.m.-Sunset (April-October) and 8 a.m.-Sunset (November-March).
