White Pony Express

The Need:

Many in our community cannot afford to feed themselves properly for temporary periods. Children, seniors, people with disabilities and low-income families often do not get enough nutritious food. For some, donated food can free people to pay rent and avoid becoming homeless. We know there are many food service businesses that would be pleased to donate their excess food if there was a way to deliver it to people in need.

Our Service:

White Pony Express identifies neighborhood programs in Contra Costa County that need food to feed the less fortunate. White Pony Express picks up the excess food from donors and delivers it quickly to these programs.

How It Works:

The Donor calls our Hotline with information about the donation.
Our Dispatcher then identifies an appropriate recipient group and sends out our staff or volunteers "runners" who then picks up the food and delivers it. The Recipient Organization provides the food to those it serves.
