Whorley Birds

Whorley Birds started out as a hobby for us. We both love chickens and we wanted our son to be exposed to them and have an understanding of where his food comes from. First and foremost, theses birds are our pets and we enjoy having them and raising babies. We needed to sell the babies so we could raise more, thus Whorley Birds was born. The business name came from the man that taught us everything we know about game birds, who has since retired. We raise these birds in his honor and hope we do him proud with the work we are doing. Our breeding stock consists of a gray rooster named Bobby (named by our son) and "The Girls", 4 black hens that are sisters. We moved from Alabama to Texas and they came with us. About a month after moving here we had a record blizzard with 16" of snow. Even after the best preparation we knew to do, we thought we had lost our birds. Their pen was completely filled with snow but after 2 days and much digging, all 5 were in a small air pocket that had formed when their roost collapsed. Since then we have successfully hatched quite a few chicks and here we are!
