Wilcox Township is a civil township of Newaygo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,145 at the 2000 census.GeographyAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 34.0sqmi, of which 33.9sqmi is land and 0.1sqmi (0.26%) is water.DemographicsAs of the census of 2000, there were 1,145 people, 408 households, and 308 families residing in the township. The population density was 33.8 per square mile (13.0/km²). There were 577 housing units at an average density of 17.0 per square mile (6.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 93.62% White, 2.01% African American, 1.57% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.79% from other races, and 1.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.66% of the population.There were 408 households out of which 39.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 9.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.5% were non-families. 19.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.18.
