In 1922, Wilde Tool was purchased by brothers Paul & Otto Froeschl who created the first-ever angle nose pliers. Prior to Otto working in a scissor factory in KC, all pliers were straight-nose. He had an idea to angle the nose 32 degrees for more leverage and was credited with inventing the Original Angle-Nose Pliers (US Patent #1,800,447.) Today, Wilde is a privately held corporation managed by the 3rd and 4th generations of the founders.
