Vision:
Counselors & Educators for Social Justice at the College of William & Mary is inspired by a vision of shared passion for justice in our community. We strive to provide the student body with a comfortable space to share ideas related to advocacy. We aspire to engage students in opportunities to enhance their personal and professional relationship with justice-related issues through participation in film discussions, guest-speaking events, and other thought-provoking shared experiences with others who are interested in social justice.

Goal for Year 1:
Counselors & Educators for Social Justice plans to host monthly small scale events and one medium/large event between September 2013 and May 2014.

Membership:
All William & Mary graduate students, undergraduate students, faculty, and staff are invited to join Counselors & Educators for Social Justice.

Location:
Regular events for Counselor & Educators for Social Justice will be held at the School of Education, with rooms reserved in advance of meetings and events. Occasional events may be held outside the SOE and at the event locations, such as on W&M main campus, at a movie theater, or at a coffee shop or restaurant.

Activities: Examples of potential events are listed below.
Small activities:
-Host a guest speaker who works in the community advocating for social justice
-Watch a movie related to social justice and hold a group discussion afterwards
-Attend William & Mary cultural and social justice events as a group, such as Holi, MLK Jr. Day Commemoration, LGBTIQA Festival
-Attend social justice-related trainings as a group, such as SafeZone training
-Attend community events related to social justice and diversity
-Volunteer in the community as a group
-Student presentations on areas of expertise or research interests

Medium/Large activities:
-Organize a group trip to Richmond or Washington, DC to attend a social justice or cultural event
-Arrange a large-scale volunteer effort in the community

Frequency of Activity:
To remain a member of Counselors & Educators for Social Justice, members are asked to participate in at least one event per year. The student interest group will host events at a minimum of once per month
