The story of Willing Beauty begins with Bella Weems, who, at 14, founded one of the fastest growing social selling companies in history, Origami Owl®. With the help of her mother, Chrissy, the Weems have become experts at helping women of all ages become social entrepreneurs. Their desire to be a global Force For GoodTM and fulfill their mission of motivating women to reach their dreams took on a broader meaning when they met Christy and Willa, another mother-daughter duo who had founded a better-for-you teen skincare line, willaTM.
The Weems immediately knew a partnership between Origami Owl and willa would be a dream come true: combining their keen social selling know-how with Christy and Willa’s skincare expertise would make a difference in the lives of others — not only in the U.S., but around the world. Thus began Willing Beauty.
Christy’s personal skincare journey began soon after her daughter Willa was born. She discovered she had skin cancer at the age of 29, which dermatologists attributed to too much sun damage and too little care when she was younger.
Like most moms, once she was treated and the scare was behind her, her thoughts turned to her young family. As Willa approached her teen years, they began searching for products to protect her young skin. The problem? They couldn’t find anything Willa loved and Christy felt good about because so many teen skincare products have harsh and potentially harmful ingredients. So they decided to create a solution themselves. They sought out the best green chemists at the top labs in the U.S., and after years of research and development, willa, which literally means "protector," was born. willa’s first product would be its better-for-you skin protectant with a mineral SPF30 called Face the Day.
Eight years later, after formulating for teens, and asking all of the chemists and experts "What should I be using?," Christy found herself also caring about lines and wrinkles, skin tone, lightening, clarity and firmness. She knew other women also shared her desire for high performance skincare that was safer, delivered results and wouldn’t irritate their skin. When she couldn’t find what she was looking for, she decided to create it in partnership with Annette McEvoy, beauty maven and industry veteran.
