At one time, Wilmot Gardens had the largest collection of camellias in the United States and the second largest in the world. This November, we will be hosting our Inaugural Camellia & Plant Sale which we hope to bring back to you every year. In the 70's, many people got married right here. In 2006, Dr. Tisher and his team dedicated their efforts to restoring the garden.
Today, it is a wonderful place to take your lunch break or for a short walk. We have a Therapeutic Horticulture Program run by Leah Diehl in the greenhouse that teaches many classes to all types of local patients. We are working together with campus and community partners to make the The Chapman Healing Garden at Wilmot a reality in the near future.
Our benches are scattered all throughout the garden and it's easy to see why patients, their families, students, and faculty come to Wilmot Gardens to find a peaceful retreat.
If you are interested in volunteering, don't hesitate to contact our Program Director, Grace Walker.
