The Chancery Clerk wears many hats. The Clerk is responsible for filing court cases not only for Chancery Court, but also for Youth Court. Other responsibilities of the office include collecting delinquent taxes and settling those monies to the appropriate parties at the end of the month. The Chancery Clerk is the keeper of land records, including deeds and deeds of trust. Military Discharges are filed in this office at no charge to Veterans. As Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, the Chancery Clerk is responsible for the meeting agenda and recording the minutes of each meeting. The Chancery Clerk serves as the County Auditor and Treasurer, and oversees the financial proceedings of Winston County. Mental and Drug/Alcohol Commitments are also filed through the Chancery Clerk's office. The Chancery Clerk is responsible for dispensing the traffic and DUI tickets for the Winston County Sheriff's Department.
