The Wintu Educational and Cultural Council was created in an effort to preserve the Native American culture in Northern California. We want to replant the roots that once grew so deep, So that the Wintu heritage can be passed down for many generations to come. So that the wisdom of the past can be utilized for the future. We offer Site Monitoring services and consultations. Just as well, we offer membership to anyone that wants a chance to help. We are always looking for new ideas.
This councils vision is to revitalize Wintu traditions, customs, sprituality, and cultural heritage for the benefit of the Native Wintu Community. We envision a future with protection and security for Wintun sacred sites and archaeological resources in our ancestral homelands. We hope that, through exposure and linguistic teaching, our culture and traditions will continue to endure for many generations to come. As long as the past is sacred, our future is bright.
