Wise Family Farms

Wise Family Farms is a small family owned farm offering a variety of heirloom herbs, vegetables and berries.

The farm itself is an heirloom, my grandparents bought every acre with cash and they, and their children together worked the land. I have wonderful memories of the farm, walking beans, and baling hay, chasing stray calves during thunderstorms, and catching fireflies. My father is now sharing this land with myself and my family and we love creating memories with our son on the very land where his Papa grew up.

My family and I have moved "home" to begin a small sustainable farm. We follow some of the guidelines around dynamic gardening as well as square foot gardening. We do not use any chemicals or toxins which means you will see weeds in the garden when you come to visit.
We use only heirloom seeds, meaning typically grown pre-WWII, open pollinated, and almost exclusively non-hybrid, no GMO's here!

Our first harvest was last year, just for family and friends, and we enjoyed the rich wonderful flavors of many different heirloom tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, herbs, peas, lettuce, beans, beets, and carrots. Through the winter we enjoyed the eggplant tapanade, salsa, pesto, and cilantro that we canned and froze.

We look forward to sharing the bounty of our garden with you this year. We will be at the Old Town Farmers Market in Ottawa when it opens in June and are happy to do special orders for those with specific needs.
