Wise Owl Drinkery and Cookhouse is a cozy urban establishment with late 1890's architecture infused with today's modern luxuries. Wise Owl is not just your typical bar in the Near West Side, but rather a unique contemporary American fare, craft cocktail, and local brew bistro, combined to bring you an unforgettable experience.

Wise Owl is where cocktails and cuisine combine for a perfect evening of entertainment. With the evolution of the cocktail culture blowing through Chicago, lead bartender and mixologist Benjamin Tozser was brought in to spearhead Wise Owl’s creative beverage program. Our vast cocktail menu ranges from traditional cocktails to an assortment of eclectic and refined house cocktails for those who are looking to try something new. As homage to the great city of Chicago, we have primarily selected local craft brews and locally-distilled spirits as well. Our carefully selected wine menu is designed to pair with individual courses, but is outstanding enjoyed without food as well.

Our food is made in-house and from scratch. Executive Chef Mark Hill (formerly of David Burke's Primehouse) uses fresh and local ingredients whenever possible to bring you a satisfying dining experience.

Our menu features classic comfort food from America and around the globe, made with extra care and a few twists on tradition. We make our own wing sauces and fry them to order. We house cure and smoke our own salmon and make it into sliders. We make our own sausage and put it on a hand-tossed pizza. And did someone say Rumchata cookies? We make those too.

If it’s sports you’re looking for then look no further. Located just minutes from the Madhouse on Madison, Wise Owl provides an optimal location for Blackhawks and Bulls fans to tailgate before and after each game. As for viewing the games, Wise Owl dedicates itself to providing the perfect atmosphere for all local, national and world-wide sporting events. With our 150-inch projector and multiple flat-screens, Wise Owl assures you’ll catch all the action from virtually any seat in the house.

For those who are driving to the United Center, we offer parking for more than 30 cars as well as a complimentary shuttle service for all of our patrons to all home games (shuttle service begins fall 2015). Wise Owl is also just a matter of steps away from the Racine/Blue Line stop and the Racine exit at I-290.

Home to one of the largest outdoor patios in the Near West Side/West Loop area, Wise Owl provides seating to more than 60 people in our garden alone. In addition, we have a bean bag court, live entertainment, and weekly specials, making us the perfect place to hang out any day of the week.
