More about Women 4 Jesus

I would like to share this testimony of how hearing the voice of the Lord and the act obedience is changing the lives in the Chatham County Detention Center (Women) in Savannah, Georgia.
I have a friend named Jan and we have been friends for many years. Sometimes as friends do, after marriage and children, we try to keep in touch but life keeps us busy. I had not heard from Jan in many years but about 5 years ago, I heard through other friends that Jan's life was on the wrong path. About 3 years ago, Jan was arrested and spent one night in jail. She was released and a few days later, she came to visit me and we talked for a little while. I knew that her arrest was a warning from God. I knew she wasn't taking this warning seriously. She continued on her path with the enemy.
In September of 2014, I dreamed I was ministering to Jan about the Lord, only it was through a TV screen in a jail. I woke up sweating, not realizing what the Lord was trying to show me. In October of 2014, Jan was arrested again. The week of Christmas in 2014, I was out doing some Christmas shopping. The Lord spoke to me and said, "it is time, send her a Bible." So immediately, I went to Barnes and Nobles. The only Bible I knew to send her was The Everyday Life Bible by Joyce Meyers.
I completely surrendered my life to the Lord in June of 2012. I was given this Bible along with Jesus Calling Daily Devotional from my current ministry I attend. I referenced these two books along with an iPod as my equipment. The Lord, these two books and my iPod, radically changed my life.
In January of this year, the Lord spoke to me and told me it was time for me to see Jan. I went to see her and as I sat in front of her, tears began to roll down my face. The dream the Lord had shown me had come true. As sad and painful as it was to see my friend in jail, I knew the Lord was trying to get her attention and follow Him. It is a choice and it was time to make hers. As Jan cried, she thanked me so much for sending her The Everyday Life Bible. She said the Lord had touched her and she was a changed person. She was ready to surrender.
In our next visit, Jan shared with me that the Bible the Lord had asked me to send to her was now being shared between 4 girls. They were taking turns and actually had scheduled times with the Word of God. She was laughing, stating the Lord obviously was trying to break her of selfishness because it was really hard to share her Bible although she knew it was the right thing to do and they were so eager to read and learn. Again, while talking to her, the Lord spoke to me and told me I was to send 2 more Bibles into the jail so the girls could share, and then to send Jan the Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. As I started to tell Jan what the Lord had instructed me to do, 2 of the girls that were sharing the Bible walked by the TV monitor. I was introduced to these girls by Jan and she started telling them more Bibles were getting sent into the Jail. They were jumping up and down and praising God and thanking me. Through my tears, I saw the joy that this one Bible had brought to these girls and how thirsty there were for the word of God. I went the next day back to Barnes and Nobles to get 2 more of the Everyday Life Bible's and a Jesus Calling Daily Devotional mailed into the jail to the girls.
The next week, February of 2015, Jan was released from jail. She received the Jesus Calling book before she left but the other two Bibles never made it to her. A couple of weeks went by and I didn't even think about the two Bibles. Then one day, the Lord brought the two missing Bibles to mind. Where were these Bibles the Lord had me send? Why didn't these Bibles make it to these girls that were so eager for the word of God? I was a little disappointed and perplexed. I thought I had followed the Lord's instructions. I verified that the Bibles had indeed been delivered to the jail so, the Lord then led me straight to the jail. The clerk at the jail, called the book intake office and I spoke with an awesome woman of God by the name of Mrs. Cotton and I explained the story. She informed me that the jail had just moved the woman to a different location within the jail. Everything was in disarray but she asked me for my phone number and said she would call me in a week.
Two weeks past and Mrs. Cotton called and told me they were still looking for the Bibles but we started talking and I started telling her the testimony. I was led to ask her what types of Bible were used in the jail. Mrs. Cotton told me all they had ever used were Gideon Bibles and King James Version. I told her ever since the day I saw the girls so excited about The Everyday Life Bible, the Lord had put it on my heart to see if there was any way I could possibly help get this Bible along with the Jesus Calling Daily Devotional into the women's facility. I was very led to help equip these girls. Mrs. Cotton told me that she would have the Chaplain call me the next day.
The next day, Chaplain Myra Mitchell called me. I asked if we could meet for diner. At diner, I told her the testimony and what the Lord had put on my heart. I was not sure how, but the Lord put it on my heart to help equip these girls with the 2 books that were given to me when I began my walk with Christ. Also, I expressed the desire that was put in my heart from the Lord to help minister to these girls. She gave me instructions on how that would be possible. She also explained to me that the only Bibles that have ever been introduced into the Jail were the Gideon Bibles and King James Version.
The next week, I received a phone call from the Chaplain. The decision was made and they wanted to begin giving The Everyday Life Bible and Jesus Calling to the graduates of the Chaplains Program that occurs every 8-10 weeks. The joy I felt was overwhelming!
After many meetings and much opposition, 8 women graduated from the Chaplains Program and received The Everyday Life Bible and Jesus Calling at the ceremony. This is the first time another Bible has been introduced to the Chatham County Jail System. You can imagine my excitement! That night, I received a phone call from the Chaplain. She had so much joy in her voice. The Lord's love fell in that ceremony. The girls were weeping and stunned as you can imagine.
I give the Lord All of the Glory and Praise for this testimony. I want to again, thank you for your obedience and yielding to the Lord in Jesus Calling. As the Lord leads and in His timing, I will apply and once accepted, I will begin doing what the Lord has put in my heart to do, minister to the women in this facility. The leather Everyday Life Bibles and Jesus Calling will continue to be given out at every graduate who graduates from the Chaplains C Program (Level 1 & 2). There is no doubt in my heart, these two books, my equipment, will help change the lives of many and revolutionize this facility. I once again give All of the praise to the Lord. John 14:21 " The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who (really) loves Me; whoever (really) loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I (too) will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. Never underestimate the power of obedience to the Lord.
