More about Woodhaven Retirement Community

The Woodhaven Retirement Community is the only full service Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Livonia, Michigan offering every level of care. Services include independent living apartments with a la carte services, licensed care in assisted living apartments, memory services in a totally secured environment, skilled nursing care, rehabilitation and adult day services. Woodhaven is proud to partner with Agility Health in offering high quality rehabilitative services and post-acute care.

Woodhaven is a small-scale service center that focuses on person-centered (individualized) care, and we deliver that service 24/7 in four separate neighborhoods, each with approximately 30 residents. Each neighborhood has its own bistro dining and family room. The adult day respite program is the only one in Michigan open from 5:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. 365 days per year. Each resident of Woodhaven receives VIP treatment!

Woodhaven Retirement Community opened in 1987 as a licensed assisted living facility. We added an adult day program in 1991; the area’s first secured memory services center in 1994; independent living apartments in 1999; licensed skilled nursing and Medicare certified rehabilitation in 2002. In 2008, our facility was remodeled to create three boutique neighborhoods – one for assisted living, one for memory services, and one for skilled nursing and rehabilitation. Each neighborhood has its own dining area and family room.

Woodhaven boasts some of the lowest levels of staff turnover in the industry. Staff is assigned to the same residents each time they work. This consistency helps our employees to build strong, trusting relationships with our residents, so that they will feel more secure, comfortable, and receive better, personalized care and attention. Staff often becomes intimately acquainted with family members, often developing friendships that last long after the resident is no longer at Woodhaven.

Our Executive Director, Randy Gasser, has been leading the Woodhaven community for over 30 years. Management keeps an open door policy, so that suggestions, questions, or other issues can be quickly and easily resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.

The Apostolic Christian Churches of Alto, Bay City, Livonia and Toledo sponsor Woodhaven. These churches provide board leadership, volunteer services and financial support. As a faith-based corporation, Woodhaven offers many opportunities to praise and honor God through vesper services, hymn sings and Bible studies. Residents also benefit from day trips, parties, games and lots of entertainment.
