Woodland Park Acupuncture

I've had a lifelong interest in Asian culture, particularly China and Japan. I began studying martial arts in my early teens and have continued this practice to the current day. I've studied many systems over the years, currently my focus is on the so-called Chinese 'internal' arts - XingYi, TaiJi and BaGua.

About 17 years ago I began exploring the connections between the Chinese internal arts and traditional Chinese medicine by participating in a 15 year apprenticeship with a New Mexico licensed D.O.M. After that I took part in a 22 month distance learning program hosted in Beijing, China which culminated in a 3 week clinical rotation at WangJing hospital in Beijing. I then completed a 2 year master's program at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver, CO. I'm currently a board certified (NCCAOM), state licensed acupuncturist in Woodland Park, CO.

I also have extensive experience with modern western medicine. I was a pharmacy technician; worked in healthcare IT designing, programming, testing and implementing hospital software and I've also worked in IT on the health insurance side. I've spent almost all of my working life in and around healthcare in some form or fashion.

Acupuncture itself is an excellent modality for a variety of health conditions. My current practice in Woodland Park is a general one. I treat everything from anxiety and depression to pain and autoimmune disease. Chinese medicine's diagnostic model is somewhat unique in that we classify various diseases in to a set of 'syndromes' and treat the syndrome rather than western medical diagnosis. This allows a great degree of flexibility in how we, as acupuncturists and herbalists, treat as well as what we can manage successfully.
