Bio:
Amber specializes in starting young horses of all breeds. She has started many horses that have gone on to compete on the racetrack as well as in the arena. She has been trusted by owners of all breeds including Morgans, Saddlebreds, Warmbloods, and Friesians to start their young horses. She has been privileged to make a career out of her lifelong passion. Amber started her colt starting business “Working W Training Facilities” in 2002 and has since started over two hundred horses.

Amber has gained a reputation for her stress free and methodical approach that delivers a brave, confident, and safe horse that is ready to go on to specialized training or hit the trail. Her experience with horses has been developed over the past 30 years. Amber began riding horses in her back yard when she was 3 years old. She grew up riding and competing in local shows and contesting events. She met her training mentor, Andy Castro, at the age of 17. Andy took Amber on as an apprentice trainer and introduced her to the world of cutting.

Amber apprenticed under Andy for 2 years at his training facility “Cutting Loose Ranch”. During this time, Amber travelled to and competed in many cutting events with Andy and gained a lot of experience along the way. After completing her apprenticeship, Amber continued to compete in cutting events for several years while her colt starting business took off.

Amber now focuses her attention on her training business. She believes in introducing the horses to challenging obstacles early in their training to build confidence and to keep them interested in their training. While at her barn, the horses are exposed to traditional trail obstacles, as well as, dogs, tractors, and four wheelers. It has been said that Amber has a calming effect on horse and rider that past clients have enjoyed when riding their horse for the first time at her facility.

Over the past 3 years, Amber has partnered with the Kentucky State Police Post 5 to put on the “Extreme Trail Horse Challenge” that has brought in over $11,000 in support of Trooper Island Kids Camp.
