More about WorkShop 715

It is commonly said that “change is good”… and here we are, yet again, making changes we hope are for the better.

Once again we have changed our name to better reflect our current core business and location. When this all started many years ago this was all just a hobby; something to do in our spare time. We started selling used books at a few local flea markets here and there, and on eBay and Amazon Marketplace. Back then we were Windy City Vintage, which was homage to our location just outside of Chicago Illinois. Due to increasing restrictions and fees we left those online venues and switched gears to begin selling vintage magazine advertising, brochures, and other ephemera primarily via our own website and at the occasional collectible show.

While we never gave up on that line of collectible items, with a move to northern Wisconsin we put the business on a shelf and it lay fallow for a few years while life encompassed other priorities. In 2013 we decided to restart the business as “715 Vintage”. The name was designed to reflect a focus on a broader range of collectible items sourced in and sold from the 715 area code (again, Northern Wisconsin).

Despite a lot of research into that name, shortly after doing logo design and acquiring the (715) V-I-N-T-A-G-E phone number we found another start-up seller who had choose the exact same company name. And they were even located in the exact same town in Illinois we had moved from a few short years before!

Now, after much thought, deliberation, planning, and maybe even a bit of soul-searching comes a new focus as we head into 2015. This is something of a reboot as we keep some of the existing line of products, and look towards other exciting trends and markets.

Workshop(715) will focus on offering the best in vintage magazine advertising, paper collectibles, and other ephemera as we move forward. The commitment is still to providing the absolute best examples of our products, packaged and handled with a level of care that other retailers can’t or won’t match.

Additionally, we want to focus on one of our true pleasures, which is simply being out in the workshop cleaning, repairing, and restoring a wide variety of vintage and collectible items that we come across in our travels. Whether it’s furniture, vintage electronics, personal items, advertising and industrial products, primitives, glassware or any other manner of collectible item, we are dedicated to bringing you great items from around the region.

We are currently working on the new fully functional e-commerce website along with creating content that will help those on social media platforms keep in touch with what we are working on and where we will be as we get into the summer market season around the region.

If you have questions or are looking for a particular type of item, please don’t hesitate to contact us at Info@Workshop715.com.
