Writers and Actors Reading and Performing (WARP) Theatre is a theatre organization which started in 1996 by playwright Chris Matthews. In 2005, playwright and bat researcher Ellen Covey took over leadership for ten years. Now, in 2015, Jason Dooley and John Paul Sharp have grabbed the reigns and are working to keep WARP around for at least another ten. Over the years, WARP Theatre has become a fixture and a staple in Seattle's local theatre industry and we look forward to meeting you!
For nearly twenty years, we have been serving Seattle-area playwrights, actors, and people who are generally interested in theatre production. All meetings are open to anyone and everyone from seasoned professionals to those with little or no previous experience. There are no membership dues, although voluntary contributions to help pay rent are welcome. In addition to the weekly meetings, WARP produces several shows a year using selected material written, directed, and performed by participants.
We are currently working to achieve 501c3 status as a nonprofit organization. As more details become available, we will be sharing information about how to donate to our organization and help us ensure long-term sustainability over the next few years.
