WRTC-FM is a non-commercial FM radio station based in Hartford, Connecticut, which primarily serves the Hartford market. WRTC-FM broadcasts a diverse format, and can be found on the dial at 89.3 MHz.
WRTC is “Radio Trinity College,” a 300W FM broadcasting on 89.3 MHz from the 10-story High Rise dormitory on Gallows Hill on the campus of Trinity College. We also web-stream our air signal at www.wrtcfm.com. Trinity College is a private, liberal arts college with a student body of about 2200 undergraduates. WRTC, which has been broadcasting for over 60 years, is run as a student station; the license is held by the Board of Trustees, who leave the management of the station in the hand of the students.
Because Trinity has a small student body, WRTC has always partnered with community volunteers to provide on-air staffing. This tradition has helped forge strong bonds between WRTC and the Hartford community, making WRTC one of the most important links between the college and the greater Hartford region.
Governing decisions are made by an Executive Board of 6 students elected annually at a station meeting by the attending volunteer staff. Two part-time engineers and a faculty advisor complete the administrative staff.
