† ♥ CHRIST: Jesus Christ is the source of all compassion—He came to heal the sinners, not to jail them [John 3:17]. He demonstrated unadulterated compassion by sacrificing Himself on the Cross for us [John 3:16]. He is the essence and example of a community because the Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) itself is three persons in one—and intimately so [Matthew 3:16-17]. He is also the Creator of everyone and everything in the universe. It was through love when He exercised His creativity [Genesis 1 & 2]. We believe that Christ is everything, and that we are nothing without Him.

† ♥ COMPASSION: We believe that we are commissioned to live a life of love as a Christian. Within the church, we are to “…be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing…” (I Peter 3:8-9). Outside the church, Jesus personified the compassion needed when a man with leprosy asked Jesus to heal him. Jesus did so without reservation [Luke 5:12-13]; and so we believe in loving sinners without reservation and ultimately bringing them to the saving knowledge of Him.

† ♥ COMMUNITY: We stress the importance of fellowship because the Christian life is NOT a lone ranger life [John 13:34-35]. Every Christian needs a community to help facilitate growth, discipleship, accountability, and the opportunity to exercise love. The point in life is about the relationships you make, first with God and then with people. We believe in being there for each other, in good times and bad.

† ♥ CREATIVITY: ”And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was [....] When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven you.’” (Mark 2:4-5) Creativity is an important aspect of the spiritual life because it is driven by love and passion. When we have love and passion for someone, we are driven to become creative. When situations become difficult, when we need to overcome an obstacle, when we need to get an important point across, a measure of creativity given by God emerges from within us so that we can accomplish what needs to be done. The men who helped the paralytic meet Jesus had to be creative; it would not have been possible without the roof. Therefore, Xaris believes in providing opportunities for creative expression.

We are not a perfect church full of saints; we are flawed human beings that experience healing, redemption, and forgiveness through the love of Jesus Christ.

As a multi-ethnic and multi-generational church, we aim to be the community where everyone feels accepted and comfortable. At the same time, we desire to help everyone get to a place of transformation and restoration through hearing, knowing, and living out the timeless message of God’s love.
