More about Yebraski's Texas Feud

Yebraski’s Texas Feud has a very unique origin which has driven the concept for a restaurant in 2017. It all started in 1991 with Sergio Yebra and his cook-off team Caca Pasa at the Law Enforcement BBQ Cook-off. The team consisted of Sergio Yebra and his coworkers from the Immigration Naturalization Investigations Unit they had no idea what they were in for. The actual competition at the cook-off was not their main concern. “We were just about drinking beer and having fun”, said Sergio Yebra about their first couple years as a barbeque cooking team.

From 1991-2008 the team was not concerned about winning any awards or recognition. Like Sergio said it was just a time to get together with friends, drink beer, and have fun. There were no set members of the team, it was just for coworkers who wanted to go out and have a good time on the weekend.

In 2009, the team name changed to What-ever cooking team. This was the year where cook-off’s went from just drinking beer and having fun to also taking the competition side of the cook-off seriously. What-ever cooking team got their first call at the Law Enforcement BBQ Cook-off, where it all started. They received 4th place chicken and from that point it took off.

In 2010, What-ever Cooking Team merged with Pitmaker. This was the first time Pitmaker had ever came together as a combined team for a cook-off. This decision led to a major win at the Law Enforcement Cook-off. Out of 90 teams they won Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion, which got them their first invitation to the Kansas City American Royal.

The American Royal was a major stepping stone for What-ever cooking team. They managed to get 1st place ribs, 9th place sausage, and 21st over all out of 499 teams. That was an unforgettable cook-off for the team “and the rest is history!” says Sergio Yebra.

What-Ever cooking Team- Rigo Zavala, Barry Halffield, Sam Brown, Ed Silva, Wilbert Sodalak, and Jessica Yebra.

The team continued to exceed expectations and continued to rule the barbeque circuit. In 2015 What-ever got dismantled due to team members retiring and Yebraski’s BBQ team was born, consisting of Sergio Yebra and his daughter, Jessica Yebra. Every team has their ups and downs and in 2015 was Team Yebraski’s. It was a no show for them. A few small awards here and there but they were few and far between that year; it was very humbling for the team.

In 2016, Sergio and Jessica regrouped and got back on the winning trail. Jessica also got her first major win that year. She won 1st place brisket at the Law Enforcement BBQ cook-off where her dad also started so it couldn’t have been at a better place. It was a memorable win for her and Team Yebraski, everything came full circle for the team. 2016 was filled with great memories for Sergio and his daughter. Lots of laughter, amazing barbeque, and memorable wins, they couldn’t ask for anything better.

After the years of success, in 2017 the idea of Yebraski’s Texas Feud was born. We are not just your ordinary BBQ restaurant! We are a family run competition style BBQ restaurant. We are bringing Houston to Eagle Pass ladies and gentlemen!
