First Minutes. This is a copy, in its entirety, of the first minutes of the Yellow Mountain Church: Spear, Mitchell County, N.C.; June 19, 1869; the arm of the church of Fork Mountain on Toe River obtained letters of dismissal and was constituted into the Baptist Church of Christ known as the Yellow Mountain Baptist Church, the Presbytery consisting of elders John Buchanan and Leonard L. Buchanan.
The church was constituted upon the word of God accepting the articles of faith of the Roan Mountain Baptist Association as an abstract of the principles of doctrine.
Arthur Erwin, L. P. Buchanan and Adolphus Cordell were examined and ordained as deacons, and Leonard L. Buchanan was chosen pastor.
