Popularly known as the Ygnacio Valley Library, its real name is the Thurman G. Casey Memorial Library. Thurman Casey was a local business owner who bought 53 acres in Ygnacio Valley in 1940. His wife, Nellie Casey, donated the property for the Thurman Casey Library in 1969. The library was dedicated on September 13, 1975 and it opened to the public on September 15, 1975.
