Yuma OPC is a confessional church, which means we confess the ancient creeds and hold to the Reformed confessions as our statements of faith.
We have found these to be extremely helpful as individual Christians, particular churches and as a denomination. They help us both to know what we believe, and to keep us from straying into error or even heresy.
The word “credo” is Latin and it means, simply, “I believe”. This shows us the importance of Creeds, for we are, after all, believers! God’s Word promises: “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. ” (Romans 10:9-11)
The confessions we subscribe to are the Westminster Confession, the Westminster Larger Catechism and the Westminster Shorter Catechism.
