More about Zermeno Dance Academy

Daniela began dancing at the age of 3, studying flamenco at a local dance studio in Santa Barbara. Her love for this passionate art form pushed Daniela and her family to travel to Los Angeles throughout her childhood, to study with numerous professional dancers and teachers such as Juan Talevera, Briseyda Zarate and Roberto Amaral. She began her career at 8 years old, performing professionally under the direction of LA’s renowned flamenco instructor, Roberto Amaral. Through her young career Daniela danced in countless theater productions, restaurant settings, commercials and instructional videos and traveled to perform in Mexico, Texas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

At age 12 Daniela had a desire to start teaching flamenco classes, and with the help of her mom (a substitute teacher at the time) she pulled together her first group of students and studio titled “Fuego Gitano Dance Studio.” Throughout Jr. High and High school, Daniela successfully ran a flamenco dance studio while also studying jazz, hip hop, lyrical and gymnastics to expand her knowledge of dance.

Immediately after graduating high school Daniela was asked to take the assistant coaching position of both the La Colina Jr. High Emeralds Dance Team and San Marcos High School Marquettes. Daniela led the two teams to 5 national titles. She recently took over the Marquette program at San Marcos as the Varsity Coach and Program Advisor.
In 2009 Daniela won the prestigious title as Santa Barbara’s Spirit of Fiesta. The following year she passed down the title to her first student winner, Erika Martin Del Campo. She continues to prepare numerous finalists for the audition each year.
In May 2011 Daniela renamed her studio to Zermeño Dance Academy and opened her second studio location. Along with Flamenco and Fiesta she now offers Hip Hop and Jazz classes as well Hip Hop and Jazz competitive teams.
As Daniela’s passion for dancing has evolved over the years so has her growth in her business. Daniela hopes to continue to expand her classes by offering new styles of dance and always challenging her students to learn more.
