Zerne Lodge No. 615 is a subordinate constituent Lodge of the Grand Lodge of Texas, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. In the mid 1800's, the small community of "Mountain Home" (later renamed Holland), located along newly laid railroad tracks and in the shadow of a steam driven cotton gin, experienced unprecidented population growth. In 1885, amid that period of community growth, 22 men who were Master Masons desired their own local Masonic Lodge and, with sponsorship of Salado Lodge No. 296, petitioned for and received dispensation from the Grand Lodge of Texas in June 1885 to form "Zern" Lodge. On December 11, 1885, the Brothers of Zerne Lodge had met all Grand Lodge of Texas requirements and the new lodge was officially Chartered as Zerne Lodge No. 615. Although the Lodge building was remodeled from a two story to a one story structure in 1989, Zerne Lodge has met on the same site the current building is located since purchasing the property from the Kuhlmann family in 1929.
