The dream of our five founders that started in 1920 on the campus of Howard University made its way to Clarksdale, Mississippi and Coahoma County in the early Sixties. The small number of Zetas in the early Sixties lived in their houses by the side of the road while creating a lasting friendship to man. These Zetas became the charter members of Zeta Psi Zeta Chapter in 1967. They were Bertha Blackburn, Glorist Jackson, Lois Edwards, Myrtis Harris, Willie Martin, Annie Ingram, Delores Nolen, and Cloitel Fluker. Bertha Blackburn served as the first chapter basileus (1967-1971) and founder of the Debutante Society.
