Zion Lutheran Early Childhood Center

Each special student at Zion Lutheran Early Childhood Center is celebrated as a unique creation of God and thoroughly is enjoyed for his or her special contributions to the class. Our staff is committed to sharing the love of Christ with our students at all times. We pray at the beginning of each day and again before we enjoy our daily snack. Lots of Christian education takes place during music as we learn songs of our faith.

Field Trips~ Some of our fun adventures include the Fire Department, the Tinley Park Public Library, McDonald's, a farm, and Exploration Station.

Special Guests~ We invite lots of special guests into our classrooms each year. Some that come every year are the Tinley Park Firefighters, guest readers, and guest musicians.

Alphabet Fun!~ Our pre-school aged students are taught the alphabet using puppets. Time is spent learning about the sound that each letter represents at the beginning of a word.

Numbers!~ Numbers 1 through 10 are formally taught in our pre-school classes. However, pre-math skills such as counting, sorting, classifying, and pattern making are a part of every day.

Science and Social Studies~ Our students explore science through many activities such as: magnets, making our own play dough, snow experiments, and erupting volcanoes. Social Studies are taught through holiday celebrations.

Fun with Literature!~ We bring books to life for our students! Our teachers share their joy of reading with the girls and boys every day! Often stories are acted out with props. We publish our own classroom books using the language patterns from good books. These projects meet the needs of all students at any stage of development.

Special Days!~ Every day is a special day at Zion, however, some days are extra-special! We begin in the Fall with "color" days, and progress through the year enjoying "m&m" day, jelly bean day, quilt day, wacky Wednesday, and many more!

Kindergarten~ Our Kindergarten uses a professionally published curriculum. Reading is taught through quality literature and decodable stories. Math concepts are developed through using hands on activities. Interactive Science and relevant Social Studies topics are covered throughout the year.
