Zion Opera Workshop (ZOW) has been around since 1970, when the youth choir at Zion United Church of Christ put on a production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" for Christmas. The original members invited friends to join the organization and it grew from there. What began as a group intended strictly for high school students now contains adults of all ages, from 9th grade on up! Children and even grandchildren of the original cast have now joined the group.
We try our best to make the group more like a family, and have events almost every month, even in the "off-season." In 2013, we began what we hope to be an annual event, a Broadway Revue in the Lehighton Amphitheater, and intend to continue making an impact in Lehighton and surrounding communities in the future.
Auditions are held for those 9th grade and older each year on December 26th (unless this date happens to fall on a Sunday. In this case they are on the 27th.) And the show is performed during the first week of March (Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday Matinee, and Saturday Night).
