Minnesota-born and Virginia-bred, Stained Glass Artist Zachary Nafziger studied art at Savannah College of Art & Design and Eastern Mennonite University. Beginning at the age of 15 at EMHS, he has been creating stained glass windows for more than 20 years. Many of Zac’s permanent commissions can be seen around the downtown Harrisonburg area - including Midtowne Market & Bottle Shop, The Golden Pony, Ice House Studios, Community Mennonite Church, The Church of the Incarnation, VMRC & the RMH/Sentra Pharmacy - as well as private residencies, churches & businesses across the United States.
Clear and distinctive imagery can be seen in some of Zac’s work; however, his most visible style is nonobjective and free. Through both the reflection and projection of color allowed by the medium of glass, Zac's windows play with light through shape, line, texture and motion. His design concepts begin with ideas of feeling, mood, music and even specific sections of pieces of glass.
Custom commissions & site-specific installations, as well as original artworks, are available through Zac’s studio - now located in the beautiful Spitzer Art Center in Harrisonburg, VA. Process & portfolio shots can be see through his business Facebook page: ZN Stained Glass.
