Appalachian Lecture Series

For over 25 years, the series has invited artists, scholars, musicians, writers and historians to the College each fall to give presentations on the heritage as well as the future of the region. From its inception, the Series has been integrated into our Appalachian Studies curriculum and has supported expansion of the Appalachian Studies collection. We have been fortunate to attract some of the most renowned voices in Southern literature to Maryville College. Recent speakers have included Robert Morgan, Silas House, Frank X Walker, Mary Hodges, Shelia Adams, Sharyn McCrumb, Ron Rash, Dori Sanders, Elizabeth Barret, Dorothy Allison, Jack Neely, and Kaye Gibbons.
