Bothell Community Kitchen

At the Bothell Community Kitchen (BCK) we answer Jesus’ call to serve our neighbors with an open heart and a welcoming hand. We invite all to share in a meal and fellowship, recognizing we are all connected as members of the community of Christ and are here to serve one another.

BCK is run by a group of volunteers who dedicate their time and resources for the betterment of the community and to enrich each others' lives. We are always in need of volunteers who can step in to help out prepare the weekly meal.

BCK is equipped with a full kitchen with ovens, gas and electric ranges, standard cooking utensils, cookware (pots, pans, trays, etc), and commercial dishwasher.

The following is a short description of the times and service opportunities that are available each Sunday:

Lead Cook: Design the complete menu, utilize gleaned items to create the meal; submit items to be purchased if necessary. Have meal ready by 5PM to serve.

Prep Cooks: Typically 3 people. 2:30-5 PM. Assist Lead Cook in preparing meal. May also include dish washing. No experience necessary! We are especially in need of volunteers in this area.

Set-up: Typically 2 people. 3:30-4:30 PM Prep the Fellowship Hall for serving (setting vases, preparing silverware, layout of drinks, and layout of gleaning table giveaways.

Greeter: 4:45-5:20 PM Greet guests from inside the front door. Be responsible for assuring guests are within the Fellowship Hall/entry area during the meal hour. If needed, escort guests to chapel, library etc.

Servers: Typically 3 people. 4:45-6:00 PM Serve the meal from 5:00 to 6:00 including packaging to-go containers for guests.

Table Hosts: 5:00-6:00 PM Come and eat and provide fellowship for our guests.

Musician: 5:00-6:00 PM Play the piano in the Fellowship Hall or bring your own instrument to entertain.

Clean-up: Typically 4 people. 5:30-7:00 PM Clean all cooking and meal dishes, clear off and disinfect in Fellowship Hall, allow dishes to air-dry and then put away in proper spot. Wash counter tops in kitchen, spot clean floor if needed. At the end of cleaning-turn down hot water tank and ensure dishwater drain is cleaned and left as is posted on instruction sheet. We are especially in need of volunteers in this area!
