Across New York, Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) - one in every county - help New York residents to conserve land, water, forests, wildlife and related natural resources that encompass our state's 54,556 million acres. Our mission is to coordinate assistance from available sources - public and private, local, state and federal - in an effort to develop locally driven solutions to natural... resource concerns.
The Clinton County SWCD is the official governing body of the district and consists of five supervisors. Three are elected at an annual meeting of local residents. Two are appointed by the County legislators based upon recommendations of the local district leadership. As public officials responsible to the district and state, supervisors are required to subscribe to a standard public oath of office.
