The Micanopy Baptist Church was organized in 1832, and the first building was erected in 1860. It was torn down in 1866 and replaced in the 1880s. During the following year, the Women's Missionary Union was organized in the second building. In the 1960s, the second church building was outgrown and replaced by the current church building on Cholokka Blvd. During the middle 2000s, the Micanopy congregation lost control of the church building but, as of June 2, 2013, the building was reacquired.
